ARCHITECTS – Studio of Pacific Architecture
The studio was established in 1992. The three directors – of which Stephen McDougall, lead architect on the Il Casino apartment project is one – have studied and worked together in both Europe and New Zealand. The collective international experience gained by the directors in Europe, set the platform and influenced the direction of the Studio. From early design competitions and small residential commissions, the practice has evolved into a substantial and award-winning creative force, responsible for some of the most notable contemporary buildings in New Zealand including the eco-benchmark Meridian Building on the Wellington Waterfront, Centreport Wellington, Beaumont Quarter in Auckland and the Lighter Quay, Viaduct Harbour, Auckland
Based in Wellington, the Studio has resisted moving, although many of its clients and diverse commissions come from across New Zealand. Particular recognition has been given to the Studio for working with the arts, urban regeneration, housing masterplanning and contemporary workspace planning.
